How do we transform a radio story into a visual narrative?

OVERVIEW
The project objective was to choose one episode from this American Life and translate the audio file into a 100 page book. 

APPROACH
I choose episode 566: The Land of Make Believe. Following the theme of make believe worlds I decided to create the book in a children's illustrated style design. To get inspired, I looked at many different types of children books for ideas. For the visual system, I created a simplified arrangement using two typefaces, one color, watercolor textures and black and white illustrations. Every weight and character style used was designed to either show emotion, or denote pauses in speech and music.
